What saves you space, frees air flow, and is lighter than traditional fiber cable, and designed specifically for datacenter applications?

THAT RIGHT! The new fiber optic cable design from Berk-Tek, Micro
Data Center Plenum (MDP), specifically targeting the data center/storage area network (DC/SAN) market.
The new MDP cable design incorporates Berk-Tek’s patented dry loose-tube technology in a smaller O.D. and adapted specifically for the indoor-only DC/SAN and building backbone environment. The new patent-pending construction provides a 50% smaller cross sectional area than equivalent fiber count indoor cables. In DC/SAN applications, the new MDP cables can help prevent cabinet and pathway congestion, considerably enhancing airflow, and facilitating more efficient cooling. When compared to traditional
ribbon interconnect, premises distribution, and indoor/outdoor loose tube cables, this new breed of cables offers improved density, ease of installation, termination, and subunit handling, presenting exceptional value in the DC/SAN space as well as intrabuilding backbone infrastructure.
The new line of MDP cables is available with plenum ratings up to 72 fibers, and allows for significant cost reduction over traditional indoor cable design options. These cables are also offered with aluminum or steel interlocking armor, as well as pre-terminated cable assemblies with multi-fiber MTP/MPO connectors or single-fiber type connectors such as SC, ST, or LC.

New Construction of Adventum™ Indoor/Outdoor
Fiber Optic Premises Cables are smaller and lighter

New Holland, PA – Copper and fiber optic cabling technology and solutions leader Berk-Tek, A Nexans Company announces improvements to its Adventum family of indoor/outdoor fiber optic cables.
Adventum cables now feature a 19 percent reduction in the overall diameter and up to a 38 percent reduction in weight, due to the removal of unnecessary space holders previously used to maintain a round design. The new patent-pending Dual-Unilite™ constructions provide a 50 percent smaller cross-sectional area than comparable cables.
“The improved physical characteristics of this cable design make it the perfect choice of cable for data-centers,” stated Beni Blell, RCDD, fiber optic product business manager at Berk-Tek. “These new Adventum cables are much lighter and more flexible than anything else on the market and offer 50% or better performance in bend radius over traditional high-fiber ribbon cable constructions,” Blell added.
In data center applications, Adventum cables can help prevent cabinet congestion, enhance airflow, and facilitate more efficient cooling. The smaller design and flexibility of the cable makes installing, terminating and sub-routing easier, providing exceptional value in building backbones, campus environments, data centers and SANs.
The new line of Adventum cables is now available through distribution with riser and plenum ratings and in multimode or singlemode fiber constructions up to 216 fibers. The cables feature GIGAlite™ fiber, the industry’s highest performing laser optimized 50- micron fiber. Adventum cables incorporate the industry’s original all-dry water-blocking technology, allowing for significant cost reduction over traditional indoor/outdoor installations methods. The cables are available in pre-terminated cable assemblies with multifiber MTP/MPO connectors or single-fiber type connectors such as SC, ST, or LC.
